Nothing has demonstrated better about how indecisive I am than my Senior Project. Initially, I wanted to write a screenplay for a movie. I figured that this would be a good opportunity to pursue two interests of mine- writing and film- that I otherwise rarely have the time for. However, it quickly became apparent that I am no place to let people read my creative writing and so I looked towards art as another option. My plan then was to draw several pieces depicting a conceptual movie idea, but as I began I realized this was going to make me hate art. After brainstorming multiple options that included attempting to become ambidextrous or being ordained I concluded that it was up to my mentor at my courthouse internship to give me a project. If they had nothing for me to do, then I would learn how to use a sewing machine and make a skirt and dress. The Jurys out...Currently, I am interning at the Self Help Center at the Napa Courthouse, and for my Senior Project, I will be designing and creating a huge diagram depicting the process of a court case which will be displayed in the center. My mentor at the internship expressed interest in me doing this as a project and I quickly took him up on the offer, because not only does it sound do-able, it sounds helpful. In the Self Help center here are some of the pamphlets or guides that can be found: Although useful, none depict or explain the process a case goes through from the beginning to the end. Of course, my knowledge of this is slim. To establish that I know what I am talking about and creating material that is correct, I will be reading the information provided by my mentor, discussing them with him, and sitting in on cases and hearings. By the start of April, I will have completed a rough draft of my diagram which will be shown to employees of the Self Help center for feedback. |
